Attention BitFers! We have some important and exciting news for 2019: we’re moving to Snug Lake!
As you know, we’ve had the privilege of holding our event at the beautiful Cheam Fishing Village for the past four years. There was some uncertainty as to whether our hosts wanted to continue renting out their space. They needed more time to decide how they were going to proceed. After discussions with all parties, including the BitF production and the GVIAS board, we began to look for backup venues. Please know this decision was not made lightly. We have deadline constraints and people are eager for dates to be confirmed. As such, signing a contract and securing the space became more urgent for us and we needed to proceed.
Luckily, a group of talented and hard-working individuals were able to secure a new site for us to move to this summer! (Thank you, GVIAS Venue Committee for coming to the rescue!!!) The beauty of this site is that the property owner is excited to develop a long term relationship with us. So when we say this could be our new HOME, we really mean it. The site is big with a lot of room for growth as we continue to grow ourselves. There will even be opportunities to coordinate with other events for resource sharing which should save us money in the long run. Another bonus is that we’ll be able to secure dates for future years well in advance so you’ll be able to book your vacation time with confidence!
This is a big change and we anticipate many questions. We will do our best to answer them promptly. We also encourage you to join us at the Town Hall in March (dates and venue TBA) There are pros and cons to every venue and we expect the pros to significantly outweigh any challenges the new site may pose. As Burners, we stand by the Principle of Radical Self-Reliance, so we’ll do our best to make sure you know what all the changes will mean for you, but you will need to pay attention to the updated Survival Guide and any other posts we make as we work to put everything in place to have a FANTASTIC BitF 2019!
Without further ado, we present to you… SNUG LAKE!
